Pedro G. Carvalho was born in Oporto (1951). In 2002 finished his Ph.D in Economics at the University of Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal), after 2-year as visiting scholar at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Currently is Dean the Coordinator of the sport management programs at ISMAI.
He is a researcher at a research centre (CIDESD_ISMAI), participating in several research projects with different research groups and institutions. Research interests include preferably the field of applied economics, in particular socioeconomic impacts assessment of sport events and sport and health public policies. He published several papers in peer-review journals, some books chapters.
Most of the early papers concerned regional development and growth sustainability.
He is also a trained coach either in Volleyball as in Organizational Coaching.
He is member of the ICSSPE Executive Board.
He is the elected President of ISCPES – International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sports.
